Grid Flexibility – An 8 billion euro opportunity for business model innovation?
Wednesday 18.3

With the rapid rise of renewable energies and electricity storages, grid flexibility is becoming one of the most valuable assets of the future energy system. Grid flexibility now plays a critical role in maintaining grid integrity, supporting sector coupling, and unlocking new business opportunities in the transition toward a low-carbon future.
Recent studies, like McKinsey, show that demand-side flexibility alone could unlock up to €8 billion in value by 2030, creating unprecedented opportunities across the entire energy value chain. With these massive investments on the horizon, decisions made in the next few years will determine whether the grid becomes a bottleneck or a catalyst for sustainable growth.
Through an interactive format, we bring together diverse stakeholders to explore and shape the next generation of business models for grid flexibility management. This session is an opportunity to contribute and influence where the sector is heading next, with an impact that reaches far beyond the walls of the Art Hall.
The seminar is organized by the “Competence in Energy Transition Management” project, coordinated by Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Oulu Business School at the University of Oulu.
