Data center technology disruption points and research roadmap

Introduction and background

Transformative design process for disruptive innovations in data center area

A transformative design process is a design approach aimed not just at improving a product or service, but at creating system-level change — shifting behaviors, structures, markets, or even societal outcomes.

It goes beyond incremental innovation and focuses on redesigning how systems work, often in response to sustainability, digitalization, or societal challenges.

Typical process has the following phases: Framing the systemic challenge, Mapping the ecosystem and constraints, Identifying leverage points, Co-designing interventions, Piloting and scaling and Institutional embedding.

We will present our findings in data center value chains and the potential disruption points based on our networking activities and interviews and workshops.
