Petri Välisuo

Professor

Petri Välisuo is Professor of Sustainable Automation at the University of Vaasa, Finland. He received his Doctor of Science (Technology) degree from the University of Vaasa in 2011 and his M.Sc. (Technology) from Tampere University of Technology in 1996. His academic career includes roles as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of Vaasa, where he has led the development of research in wind energy, resilient positioning, and sustainable energy systems. He also has ten years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

Professor Välisuo’s research focuses on resilient GNSS positioning under jamming and spoofing, AI-driven sensor fusion, sustainable data centers, 5G for smart grids, industrial symbiosis, and energy system optimization. He is Principal Investigator of the WSTAR zero-emission data center initiative and has led numerous national and international projects. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and supervised multiple PhD students. His work combines sustainable energy, automation, AI, and digital infrastructure, with strong collaboration across academia and industry.
