Ighor Van de Vyver

Ighor works as policy advisor in the Climate Team of the City of Mechelen since 2018. He is responsible for the municipal heat plan, in which City of Mechelen developed a sustainable heat strategy to decarbonise the built environment. City of Mechelen therefore established a local ‘heat coalition’: a partnership of citizens, companies, public authorities and knowledge institutes to unlock the heat transition. For these heat decarbonisation efforts, City of Mechelen received the Covenant of Mayors Award in 2025. Ighor is also co-coordinator of the Urban Agenda’s Building Decarbonisation partnership, in which City of Vaasa is one of the members.
