H.E. Howard W. Brodie

Howard Brodie was sworn-in as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Finland on October 14, 2025.  He has a distinguished career with over 30 years of experience building and running legal departments and practicing corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and project finance, and complex commercial transactions.

Prior to his appointment by President Trump, Ambassador Brodie served as Co-President and General Counsel of Brodie Generational Capital Partners, LLC.  As the former Vice President and General Counsel for Purolite Corporation, he created its legal department and managed the company’s sale to Ecolab in a $3.7 billion transaction.  He also served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the Board of Directors of EMCORE Corporation for a decade.  Ambassador Brodie also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Empower Energies, a leading solar energy project developer.  Additionally, Ambassador Brodie has served as secretary on boards of both public and private companies, regularly advising on corporate governance matters and fiduciary obligations.
