Eero Ailio

Eero advises senior management on energy transition, coordinates international cooperation and leads initiatives like the Global Covenant of Mayors and the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission across his organization. Previously, he shaped policies on energy consumer issues, energy poverty, and more at DG Energy, following his work on space and security agreements for the Galileo program at DG Transport. As a diplomat in the 1990s, Eero handled security, humanitarian aid, crisis management, and EU coordination, both in Finland and Brussels. His early private sector experiences span finance, TV media, and city promotion in Finland, Sweden, and Germany. Eero holds an MSc in Economics from Hanken Business School, studied at Stockholm University as a Nordplus scholar, and is an alumnus of the US Government International Visitors Leadership program.
