Engineer Alex Mbumba currently serves as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), appointed in June 2025. He is a highly experienced energy sector professional with a career spanning over 22 years across the mining and power industries in Zambia.

He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and is widely respected for his strategic leadership, technical depth, and commitment to energy equity. Eng. Mbumba is a strong advocate for accelerating access to sustainable electricity solutions for all Zambians.
