Bubbling and Sector Coupling
Thursday 19.3
Join and enjoy the dialogue between industry, community, academia and government about smart energy systems. Together with the University of Vaasa, EPV Energy, Vaasan Sähkö and the City of Vaasa, we have practicl and informal discussion about integrating renewable energy sources into energy production. Learn about data-based solutions for sector coupling to foster collaboration, energy efficiency, and optimisation of disctrict heating.
The session ends Energyweek with bubbly drinks, energy for innovation and new connections!
The following partners are involved in the discussion with the City of Vaasa:
- University of Vaasa builds a sustainable future by uniquely combining business and technology expertise. Their research combines expertise in energy transition, business renewal, and the management of societal transformation.
- EPV’s energy production utilizes wind, solar, hydro and nuclear power as well as carbon-neutral raw material streams. The company invests in flexibility and storage solutions, such as electric boilers, thermal storage and battery systems, to make the use of renewable energy as efficient as possible.
- Vaasan Sähkö strives to be a humane energy company that makes energy as understandable as possible. The company continuously invests in projects that aim to reduce emissions from energy production and increase flexibility in the energy system.
- European municipalities dive into dialogue with local experts to discover the value of digital solutions for sector coupling in small and medium-sized cities: Umeå, Sweden; Fyli, Greece; and Alcalá de Guadaíra, Spain.
Bubbling and Sector Coupling
1. Digital twins for optimizing energy flows
2. Data & AI for managing energy systems
3. Engagement for energy efficiency
Organized by
The Nordic Energy Capital project is a large-scale European initiative led by the City of Vaasa. It accelerates urban energy transition through digital twins, ground, satellite and IoT data, AI and citizen engagement. The project builds the energy city of the future in collaboration with University of Vaasa, EPV Energy Oy, Vaasan Sähkö Oy, Technology Centre Merinova Oy and 4H Association as well as international partner cities Umeå, Sweden, Alcalá de Guadaíra, Spain ja Fylí, Greece,
Together we build smart, inclusive and low-emission energy systems – designed to be scaled across Europe.
Project: NEC Nordic Energy Capital, Creating system level urban energy transition EUI03-111
Duration: Oct 2025 – Mar 2029
Total Budget: €5.39M | ERDF: €4.31M
The project is co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Urban Initiative – Innovative Actions (EUI-IA) program. Read more here (link to EUI website)
