Powered by Space – Satellites and Offshore Wind Energy
This year’s “Powered by Space” seminar focuses on empowering wind energy and specifically discussing about offshore wind energy capacities as well as challenges and opportunities for Finland. The seminar delves into the role of satellite data in advancing offshore wind energy and also other renewable resources. As the global energy landscape shifts towards sustainable solutions, offshore wind energy emerges as a cornerstone in achieving carbon neutrality.
Satellite technologies, including Earth Observation (EO), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), are instrumental in optimizing site selection, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring environmental compliance for offshore wind projects.
Our seminar gives insight to the space sector in Finland, how it can meet the energy sector, and provides examples of satellite-data driven wind assessment and environmental monitoring success stories in the Nordics.
