The Electronic Systems research group at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), Sweden, conducts research on modelling, simulation and optimisation of electrical and energy systems.

Through the Interreg Aurora projects RESILIFY, SEEC and REDEP, we address challenges related to renewable energy integration, grid capacity, energy flexibility and resilient energy infrastructure.

Our research combines advanced modelling, measurements and data-driven methods to support the development of efficient and reliable energy systems. We work closely with industry, energy companies and regional stakeholders in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Research and innovation for resilient and flexible energy systems.

At Luleå University of Technology, we develop methods and tools to better understand, predict and optimise the operation of modern energy systems.

Our ongoing Interreg Aurora projects address complementary challenges:

  • RESILIFY: Improving energy system resilience through local energy solutions, flexibility and cooperation between energy stakeholders.
  • SEEC: Supporting the transition towards more sustainable and efficient energy systems.
  • REDEP: Developing modelling, monitoring and simulation methods to improve distribution grid operation, capacity utilisation and renewable energy integration.

Our work includes power system modelling, dynamic line rating, hosting capacity analysis, sensor-based monitoring and uncertainty quantification.

We are interested in collaboration with distribution system operators, energy companies, technology providers and research organisations, particularly on practical challenges where modelling and simulation can support better investment and operational decisions.

Meet us at EnergyWeek 2027 in Vaasa to discuss research collaboration, demonstrations and future projects.
